Directed by Natalie Erika James
When Edna, the elderly and widowed matriarch of the family, goes missing, her daughter Kay and granddaughter Sam travel to their remote family home to find her. Soon after Edna’s return, and as her behavior turns increasingly volatile, both women begin to sense that an insidious presence in the house might be taking control of her.
"Striking, enigmatic, mournful and deeply creepy…
Horror has its 2020 tidemark set high."
"With a chillingly effective premise and strong central performances, RELIC follows in the footsteps of THE BABADOOK. Horror fans will be watching Natalie Erika James’ future career with interest."
"The control with which director Natalie Erika James teases out lurking physical menace, mounting claustrophobia and growing psychological unease in her characters is impressive. RELIC is an unsettling debut that exerts an ever-tightening hold on the imagination."
THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER
"A terrifying look at mental decay with top-notch performances and a gradual suspense that eventually builds to a monstrous climax. James’ slow-burn horror is an incredible achievement and could quickly go down as one of the best horror movies of the year 2020."
